I grew up in Senegal, West Africa, I saw first hand the effects of a poor educational system. Many of my friends dropped out before the third grade, simply due to a lack of resources. Many children saw their parents in extreme poverty and went to begging on the street instead of pursuing an education. I was fortunate enough to finish school and college, and eventually, I made my way to America. In America I worked as an entrepreneur and then worked in the corporate world, only to go back to the entrepreneurial world when my son’s were in school. Even though I have had many successes, I still look back and think of my friends and colleagues who did not see the same successes because their families did not have access to the same resources and their communities lacked proper infrastructure or quality institutions like hospitals and schools.
